The Group

BDCG consists of youth organisations from six churches in South East Essex. It was founded in the early 1960's and arranged camps around the UK (West Country, East Anglia and Isle of Wight).

In the 1980s, members had a vision to re-launch the Group with a permanent site in the South of England. Swanage proved the ideal location and the first camp was held there in 1983, the Centenary year BB.

25 years on, Members and Trustees together still retain this vision to provide a fully equipped camp site for Christian Youth Groups. To celebrate what God has, is and can do through this work, a celebration was held in July for campers past and present. Well over 100 people were led in celebration by Rev Jon Stannard, himself a camper at Swanage as a member of 22nd in the 1980’s. They shared memories of camp during the barbeque.

As in 1983, a cake was provided, this time to celebrate the 125 years of the BB and 25 years of BDCG at Swanage. During camp, over £900 was raised for the BB Palm in Palm project in Cameroon and the youth Centre in Payatus, Manila.
