Beach near campsite

Swanage is situated on the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset, on the south coast, just along from Poole (From Swanage beach you can see the Isle of Wight). Its fine beaches, good swimming and attractive surrounding countryside make it a popular location for families, without being too busy.

Swanage has a good variety of high street shops and supermarkets eg Martins, Boots, Woolworths, Nixons Hardware (for camping bits and pieces), Co-op, Somerfields, and the usual gift shops and cafes of a busy seaside resort. There is a Cash and Carry at Poole.

The Site

The entrance to the site is in Washbrook Lane (western part). The field is approximately 8 acres, sloping down from the entrance and flattening at the bottom.

The nearest beach is 15 minutes walk away, the town about 20 minutes.

Tents

• 40 X 30 foot marquee (with electric lighting)
• 12 X 12 foot marquee
• 12 white ridge tents
• 30 x 20 foot marquee (cookhouse, with electric lighting)

This is the basic set up to cater for up to 60 campers. For larger camps (up to 100),  more ridge tents may be made available on request.

Equipment

• 3 large gas cookers
• 4 water boilers
• gas fridge
• plenty of cooking utensils
• power generator

Sanitary

There are individual flush toilets, each with a hand basin. Washing facilities are in two large tents (male and female), each divided into separate areas for young people and staff.
